Ruth A. Haas, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:38 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. She was born on March 22, 1923, to Roscoe Rice and Mary (Splady) Rice. Ruth attended Oakhill Church.

She was a member of the Riley Sunshine Homemakers Club, Lions Club, and Ladies Aid at Oakhill Church. Ruth was mostly a homemaker, but she worked briefly at Quaker Maid and Lucia’s Bridal Shop. She loved to sew, bake, and entertain friends and family.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 70 years, Richard Haas; caregiver and devoted friend, Dennis Clevenger; daughter, Sharon Nelson and her husband Neil; son, Dr. Ray Haas and his wife Babette of Arizona; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wanda Morris, Wilma Heady and her husband Charles, and Virginia Haas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard Rice; and sister Eula Mae Rice.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at noon, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor Tim Fagg will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lighthouse Mission. Online condolences can be made at:
