TERRE HAUTE — Paula Jane Oexmann, 73, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in Zionsville. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Jasper. Paula was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Jasper, to Paul F. Wuchner and Adeline (Blessinger) Wuchner.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dale F. Oexmann; two daughters, Amy Lee and her husband Tony and Teresa Walker and her husband Joe, all of Plainfield; a foster son, David Hamilton of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Hanna, Brody, and Macy; a sister, Martha McDermott and her husband Michael of Rochester Hills, Mich.; and two sisters-in-law, Kay Wuchner Marcus and Arlene Wuchner. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Thomas Wuchner and James Wuchner.

Paula was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and has always been very active in the church. She was past president of the Jasper Business and Professional Women’s Club, was an avid bowler, enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, and was a very active volunteer. Paula received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and her master’s degree from Indiana University and was a member of Sigma Kappa Gamma Gamma.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 a.m. in the Church of Immaculate Conception at St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Paula Oexmann Memorial Fund, c/o First Financial Bank, the fund has been set up to help Paula’s nephew, James Wuchner, with his battle with cancer.
