CLAY CITY — Terry Robert Baughn, 74, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, was born Jan. 29, 1938, in Clay City, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Eleanor Baughn. Terry was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. He graduated from Purdue University in 1960, and upon graduation, was hired by John Deere. He began work in the Indianapolis branch and continued with Deere & Company for 38 years. He advanced through management levels and worked in the Indianapolis, Kansas City and Columbus branches of the corporation.
Terry retired 12 years ago, and he and Jean have loved their retirement community of Apple Valley, near Mt. Vernon. Terry enjoyed his part-time job mowing the rough at the Apple Valley Golf Course. He was found on Aug. 5, 2012, by a cattleman, Terry Miller, while he was searching for stray cattle. The Baughn family is most grateful to all who helped with the search, as well as for prayers and support throughout this period of waiting for his recovery.
Terry’s immediate family includes his wife of 51 years, L. Jean (Anderson) Baughn of Mt. Vernon; son, Jeff Baughn and his wife Leah of Atlanta; daughters, Beth Baughn and Patsy Baughn, both of Cincinnati, and Susan Baughn of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Justin, Christian, and Grace Leah; siblings, Karen Baughn Swearingen and husband Don of Clay City, Jim Baughn of Indianapolis, and Dave Baughn and wife Sue of Citronelle, Ala.; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and a host of friends.
