Gertrude T. Strohm

MARSHALL, Ill.  — Gertrude T. Strohm, age 100, of West Union, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Paris Health Care Center, in Paris. She was born May 31, 1912, in Marshall. She married Richard Strohm on Dec. 8, 1931.

She is survived by one son, Lester and Mary Lou Strohm of West Union; two daughters, Joyce Walker of Paris, and Virginia and Paul Addy of Abington, Md.; seven grandchildren, Gary and Melody Strohm, and Shannon Strohm, all of Marshall, Sherrie and Brian Walstrom of Coatsville, Ind., Richard and Rhonda Walker of Paris, Terry and Randy Bishop of Lawrenceville, Dr. Carol Addy and her husband Gene of Boston, and Mark and Kacy Addy of Maryland; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on Aug. 10, 1975; one grandson, Mark Strohm; and several brothers and sisters.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall, St. Mary’s Quilters Club, Thursday Afternoon Club, a charter member of Home Extension, Order of the Eastern Star in West Union, Forever Young Chorus, Avid Bowler, loved to fish, and mushroom hunt.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. CDT Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Marshall, with Fr. Mike Haag officiating. Burial will follow at Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall. For those so desiring memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Helping Hands.
