Sadie Mae Saikley

Sadie Mae Saikley, a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, died peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the home of her niece, at age 94. Sadie was born in Terre Haute on April 9, 1918, the daughter of the late Farris and Ada (Hanna) Nasser. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Elias Albert Saikley, who preceded her in death in August of 1953. Sadie retired from a local printing company after 19 years of dedicated service.

She was a woman who was incredibly hardworking, dedicated to her family and friends and faithful. Sadie was very independent and honest. She was a member of St. Joseph University Parish, the Riley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a resident in the neighborhood of 23rd and Sycamore streets for more than 60 years. She will be sadly missed by all.

Sadie is survived by her sister-in-law, Salwa Nasser; nephews, Ralph Alan Pence, Fred Pence, Edward Nasser, James Nasser and William Nasser; nieces, Teresa (Nasser) Alderton, Paulette (Pence) Ahmadi, and Patty (Pence) Bumphus, who provided care and housing for Sadie during her time of need.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sadie was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings, Samuel Nasser, Joseph Nasser, Louis Nasser, Mary Nasser, Lativa Nasser and Helen Nasser Pence.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, from 11 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph University Parish, with friar Mark Weaver, OFM Conv. officiating, with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Nasser, Edward Nasser, Christian Nasser, Ralph Alan Pence, Elias Brown, Howard Calimese and Kashi Ahmadi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Sadie may be directed to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute. Arrangements are under the direction of Mattox-Wood Funeral Home.
