Mary E. Miller

Mary E. Miller, 92 of Forsyth, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Skaggs Regional Medical Center, Branson, Mo. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Ind. A local memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Forsyth United Methodist Church.

Mary Elizabeth Miller was born Tuesday, May 18, 1920, in Dietrich, Ill., to William Daniel and Mary Elizabeth (Parks) Lake. She graduated from Dietrich High School and attended Business College in Terre Haute. She worked as a secretary for two years and met Walt Stevenson. They were married in 1941. They owned and operated the Hoosier Heating and Air Conditioning Company in Terre Haute for 12 years. Walt died in 1967. She then became an accountant for the R.J. Oil Company in Terre Haute for 20 years, retiring in 1985. While working for the oil company, she met Thurman Miller. They were married in 1971, in Terre Haute. They moved to Taney County in 2005 to be near her daughter.  

With her sweet, fun, positive attitude and contagious laugh, she was a loved by everyone who met her. She enjoyed going out to lunch, and was a member of the Women's Birthday Club, the Chadwick Friendship Club and Forsyth United Methodist Church. She was an avid shopper, card player and ceramic frog collector.  Mary enjoyed volunteering her time to her church and the community.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Evinger of Forsyth; many nieces and nephews; and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Walt Stevenson and Thurman Miller; one son, Mike Stevenson; four brothers, Virgil, Sam, Lloyd and Delbert Lake; and two sisters, Lucille Richars, and Florence Lake.

Memorials may be made to Forsyth United Methodist Church “Canopy Fund,” or the Forsyth Senior Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, in Forsyth.
