Helen Louise Allender

Helen Louise Allender, age 92, died at Brown County Health and Living Community on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. She was the oldest of nine, born Nov. 27, 1919, to Roy Harden and Katherine Spurgeon Harden. Helen married Wallace (Sug) Allender on Aug. 15, 1940. She was the wife of an evangelistic minister, a homemaker, and care-giver all her life, touching and caring for a multitude of people. A loving person who never had an unkind word and made you feel better just by listening. A deeply religious person with heart-felt ties to many churches, she and Sug started many churches including Belmont Chapel in Belmont, Ind. Helen was currently a member of Creekside House of Prayer Church in Cloverdale.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Phyllis; an infant son, David; her son, Ronald Allender; grandson, Kyle Allender; brother, Harold Harden; and sisters, Ivy Brown, Dorothy Brown, and Kathy Cunningham. She is survived by a son, Mike Allender and wife Elizabeth of Brazil; two brothers, Bob Harden and wife Paulette of Columbus and Jim Harden of Nashville; two sisters, Maxine Snyder of Columbus and Connie Bridenburg of Bean Blossom; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She will be missed daily by many and all.

Services will be held in Brazil and Cloverdale. Viewing was Thursday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at French Funeral Home in Brazil. Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 7, 2012, at Creekside House of Prayer in Cloverdale with viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial services will be following at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil. Those who knew her knew of her love for flowers. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the funeral home for a memorial garden in her honor.
