  UPDATE 4: Deadly tornado roars through Oklahoma City suburb

  A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

Joseph R. Lovett Jr.

Brazil — Joseph R. Lovett Jr., 63, of Brazil, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Joe was born July 24, 1948, the son of Joseph R. Lovett and Rose A. (James) Lovett. Mr. Lovett owned and operated his own construction company and was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Terre Haute.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Suzanne Wier. Mr. Lovett is survived by his wife, Sue (Schlatter) Lovett of Brazil; children, Troy (Gina) Sharps of Rosedale, Larry Sharps of Brazil, Keri (Tom) Reckerd of West Lafayette, Joey (Diana) Lovett of Terre Haute, Randy Lovett of Brazil, Darren (Denita) Maybaugh of Brazil, April Bell, Scott Bell, and Amy and Charles Vanatti, all of Brazil. Also surviving are brothers, Steve (Tina) Lovett of Brazil, and Bryan (Debbie) Lovett and Dennis (Darla) Lovett, all of Terre Haute; sister, Debbie (Tim) Dove of Brazil; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be held today, June 23, 2012, at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil, at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
