TERRE HAUTE —

Helen LaFern Eldridge, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, in Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Helen was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Terre Haute, to William Lowther and Margaret (Cottrell) Lowther.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Eldridge and his wife Susan of McClenny, Fla., and James Eldridge and his wife Paula of Marshall, Ill.; six grandchildren, Michelle Switzer and her husband Billy, Jamie Cusick and her husband Nick, Christopher Eldridge, Stephen Eldridge, Matthew Eldridge, and Emily Eldridge; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Switzer, Abigail Switzer, Emily Switzer, Elijah Switzer, Ava Claire Switzer, Emma Grace Cusick, and Reagan Marie Cusick; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, who died Dec. 28, 1993; her parents; and several siblings. Helen was a former member of the Congregational Church in West Terre Haute and was a member of the Lullaby Grandmother’s Club and the thing she enjoyed more than anything was taking care of her grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Park with Brother John Cutshall officiating. Burial will then be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
