TERRE HAUTE — James Leland McCammon, 80, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away with his loving family by his side in Matthews, N.C., on Sept. 15, 2012, at 8:05 a.m. He was born Oct. 2, 1931, to James McCammon and Lela (Wagner) McCammon. James retired from the Vigo County School Corporation in 1992. He taught U.S. History at Terre Haute South Vigo High School.

James is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ann McCammon.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff McCammon and wife Kelly, Todd McCammon and wife Annette, and Kerry McCammon and wife Jennifer; daughter, Cathy Ann McCammon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. The Rev. Jeff Lee will be officiating. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery, in Sullivan. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Homecare and Hospice, 12295 Independence Blvd., Suite A, Matthews, NC 28104.
