SULLIVAN —
A Sullivan County man was taken into police custody Wednesday accused of making methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school.
Indiana State Police arrested Jimmy D. Turner, 52, of Carlisle after he was found in his pickup truck with an “active” meth lab within 1,000 feet of Carlisle Elementary, according to an ISP news release.
The police were acting on a tip and a subsequent search of local pharmacy pseudophedrine purchase logs.
Pseudophedrine is a key ingredient in meth.
Turner was taken to the Sullivan County jail where his bond was set at $72,000. He is facing allegations of making methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, a class-A felony, maintaining a common nuisance, a class-D felony, and possession of meth, a class-C felony.
The meth lab was seized and dismantled.
The investigation was conducted by ISP methamphetamine suppression officer trooper Shilo Raulston assisted by troopers Brent Robinson and Michael Featherling.
Citizens can anonymously report suspected meth activity by calling the ISP meth hotline at 1-800-453-4756 or the Putnamville post at 1-800-225-8576.
