TERRE HAUTE —
Social and political change from the Colombian Conflict will come to life through the pictures and words of photographer/journalist Stephen Ferry in a special presentation on Tuesday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The event, free and open to the public, will be conducted in the GM Room of Moench Hall, starting at 4:20 p.m.
Ferry will be speaking principally about his recent book “Violentology: A Manual of the Colombian Conflict.” It deals with the decades-long armed conflict in Colombia, where Ferry is currently based. He recently earned the prestigious Tim Hetherington Grant from the World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch for his coverage of social and political change, human rights and the environment in several countries.
Ferry’s photography work has received numerous prizes and honors; has been frequently featured in National Geographic, Newsweek, Life, The New Yorker and U.S. News & World Report; and received fellowships from the National Geographic Expeditions Council and the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation. He also has been a recent lecturer at Harvard University and Brown University.
