ISP issues 126 tickets during weekend saturation patrol

TERRE HAUTE — Between midnight and 2 a.m. Saturday, Indiana State Police troopers from the Putnamville post conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. 41 in northern Vigo County. During the two-hour period, troopers checked 83 drivers, issued two traffic tickets, three written warnings and arrested one driver for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday and ending at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, troopers conducted a saturation patrol targeting dangerous and impaired drivers in the Putnamville District (Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties). During this 81⁄2-hour extra patrol, troopers issued 126 tickets, 298 warnings, arrested 12 impaired drivers and made 15 criminal arrests for minor offenses.
