Suspects arrested in Kroger robbery

TERRE HAUTE — A violent robbery at a northside grocery store resulted in the arrest of a teenager and his companion this week.

Quince Dillingham, 16, and Darius Cooper, 20, have both been charged with felony robbery in Vigo Superior Court 6.

Dillingham, who has a criminal record as a juvenile, has been waived to adult court.

The incident occurred at about 3:25 a.m. June 22 at Kroger on Fort Harrison Road. Detective Starla Neidigh of the Terre Haute Police Department reports that Dillingham and Cooper entered the store together. At the checkout, the clerk questioned Dillingham about alcoholic merchandise that he had concealed in his clothing. Dillingham allegedly knocked the clerk down and punched her in the face three times before fleeing the store with Cooper.

The incident was captured on the store’s video surveillance system.

Cooper turned himself in to police later Friday. He has been charged with robbery, a class-C felony. Dillingham faces a class-B felony charge.

Dillingham was on a furlough pass from a juvenile facility in Putnam County on the day that the incident occurred. He returned to that facility on Sunday, and Vigo County authorities picked him up on a warrant this week. He was booked Wednesday into the Vigo County Jail.
