Frontier Communications reports temporary loss of high-speed Internet service

TERRE HAUTE — High-speed Internet customers using Frontier Communications may have temporarily lost service this evening due to a severed cable in Ohio, the company announced.

The outage, which started around 6 p.m. Tuesday, has affected an unknown number of Frontier high-speed Internet customers in Terre Haute and several other Indiana cities. Not all Frontier high-speed customers in Terre Haute are affected, said Roscoe Spencer, Frontier’s public affairs manager for the state of Indiana.

Crews are working to fix the problem and Frontier believes service will be restored by 2 a.m. Wednesday at the latest or 11 p.m. Tuesday at the earliest, Spencer said.

A non-Frontier crew working in Fort Recovery, Ohio, severed the cable in error, Spencer said. Since then, customers have been calling the company frequently to report the loss of service.

Once the cable is repaired, service will be restored, Spencer noted. It will not be necessary for a technician to come to a customer’s home or business, he said.
