TERRE HAUTE —
New guidelines on access to downtown businesses during the Blues at the Crossroads festival were approved this afternoon.
The Terre Haute Board of Public Works and Safety OK’d the policy changes to ensure non-festival-goers have open access to local businesses.
The plan, which was approved without discussion by the five-member board, was submitted to the board by directors of the blues festival. It includes requiring festival-goers to wear wrist bands while inside the festival area. It also requires anyone not paying to attend the festival but visiting a business within the festival area to provide his or her name, address and the business being visited along with a signature.
More than 40 supporters of the festival attended the board meeting, which took place this afternoon at City Hall.
The 2012 Blues at the Crossroads is scheduled for Sept. 14 and 15.
