Speaker Series to host Erin Edds, founder of ‘Hoosier Momma’ mix

GREENCASTLE — Erin Edds, a former Ivy Tech Community College student and founder of “Hoosier Momma,” will share her success story at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the Ivy Tech Business and Entrepreneurial Services Center at 915 South Zinc Mill Road in Greencastle. A reception will follow from 5 to 6.

According to an Ivy Tech press release, a call from a New York City event planner looking for Indiana-based gift products for the Indianapolis Colts 2010 Super Bowl appearance caused Edds to describe her entrepreneurial journey as a “happy accident.”

The call led to the development of a vegan, gluten-free Bloody Mary mix that propelled Edds and her partners, KC Cranfill and Cat Hill, to expand the Hoosier Momma product line and grow distribution to more than 900 locations in six states in less than three years.  Having taken culinary and hospitality classes at Ivy Tech, she gained more than “practical and applicable knowledge” for operating a business. Edds will share her insights on her entrepreneurial journey and will answer questions and visit with guests. during the reception.

“We are excited to have Erin share her story with the Wabash Valley,” said Ken Eitel, director of the Business and Entrepreneurial Services Center.  “To have what really is a new story, starting just three years ago, brought to Greencastle, we think it will inspire others to go after their dream.”

The free presentation is part of the BES Center 2013 Speaker Series.
