A reported shooting incident in rural Clark County remained under investigation Wednesday evening, with scant information being released.
Dispatchers at the Clark County Sheriff’s Department referred calls concerning an alleged shooting incident in the 23000 block of Fishback Road to their Facebook page Wednesday evening.
“We have received many questions regarding news reports of a shooting in eastern rural Clark County. We can confirm there was an incident; however, we will wait until our resources are freed up before we post any type of statement on Facebook. We will say the scene is secure and there are no further public safety issues at this time,” the department posted about 6:42 p.m.
The incident reportedly involved a drug investigation conducted by officers from the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
