Maynard to serve as interim ISU Foundation president

ISU provost takes the place of Gene Crume

TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State University provost Jack Maynard will serve as interim president of the  ISU Foundation, the foundation board of directors announced Tuesday.

Maynard will remain provost and vice president of academic affairs for the university during his interim role with the foundation.

Maynard is filling a vacancy created by Gene Crume, former foundation president, who resigned in early April. No reasons were given for the sudden resignation, which took effect immediately.

“The university is pleased to share Provost Maynard’s skills and expertise with the ISU Foundation during this leadership transition. It is important to maintain the momentum the Foundation created with the successful completion of the March On! campaign and I am confident Jack will make that happen,” said Daniel J. Bradley, president of the university.

“We are looking forward to Dr. Maynard joining the foundation team,” said Brent Beeler, chair of the foundation board. “His leadership and administrative experience will support the foundation and be a consistent resource for the staff.”

Maynard will begin serving in the interim leadership position today and will manage the day-to-day operations of the foundation during the organization’s national presidential search process.

“I am pleased and excited to serve the foundation and university in the interim role. The work of the foundation is absolutely critical in supporting the overall mission of the university,” Maynard said. “I appreciate Dr. Bradley’s and Mr. Beeler’s confidence and look forward to working with the foundation staff and university staff over the next few months.”

Maynard has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at ISU since 2003.

The foundation has established a presidential search committee. The group is working with the foundation board to hire a search firm to lead the process. The foundation expects to select a search firm by the end of the month.
