Man facing carjacking, gun charges to be back in court in August

TERRE HAUTE — A new trial date has been set for a convicted felon accused in both a 2009 carjacking in Terre Haute and on gun charges stemming from a January 2012 incident.

Tony England, 41, now faces a Dec. 10 trial date on allegations of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, residential entry and criminal recklessness related to a Jan. 7 incident at a house on Maple Avenue. When England was arrested Jan. 12, he was found to be in possession of the same handgun that he allegedly pointed at a woman days earlier, and in possession of paraphernalia.

Judge Michael Lewis also set an Aug. 28 hearing date on a defense motion to separate the charges in those two incidents. The prosecution has elected to consolidate both January criminal cases against England at trial.

No trial date has been set in the alleged carjacking incident.

England remains in the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $75,000 cash only.
