No results turn positive from TB testing at school

TERRE HAUTE — No positive results came from 760 tuberculosis tests administered this week at Woodrow Wilson Middle School after a suspect case of TB was reported at the school, the Vigo County Health Department announced Friday.

However, that does not mean testing is complete.

“We’re still waiting for the results to come back from our suspect case,” said health department administrator Joni Foulkes. If they come back positive, we will re-test everyone in 8 to 10 weeks, and if they come back negative, we will play it as it lays.”

Foulkes said the case that led to widespread testing is going through a series of tests, and it could be June 11 before the results of the latest test for TB are known.

If another round of testing is needed for the public, Foulkes said, those tested in the first round will be notified using information from the intake cards submitted during the first TB skin tests administered at the middle school.
