Rewards offered, info sought in Sullivan County homicide

SULLIVAN — Rewards are being offered for information about the Sullivan County homicide of a retired farmer.

An autopsy conducted Monday morning showed that 85-year-old Lowell R. Badger, of Merom, died from a gunshot wound. Sullivan County Coroner Jeff Griffith has ruled the death

a homicide.

Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post, with the assistance of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, continue to investigate Badger’s death. He was found dead on his bedroom floor Saturday morning.

The body showed visible signs of trauma. Electronics and other items were found missing from the residence.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr.

To protect the investigation, no other information is being released at this time, State Police said in a news release.

Several individuals have been interviewed, but no arrests have been made and none is imminent, police said.

Police ask anyone with information in the case to contact Sgt. Jeff Hearon or Detective Tom Hanks of the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114.

Detectives are interested in the time frame from 8 p.m. Friday until 9:23 a.m. Saturday. Anyone noticing suspicious persons or vehicles in the area of the homicide is urged to call the Indiana State Police. No tip, police say, is too small.
