Claudia Tanoos to chair United Way campaign

TERRE HAUTE — The United Way of the Wabash Valley has announced that Claudia Tanoos of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corp., will chair its 2012-13 Campaign Cabinet. The chair will lead campaign cabinet members throughout the 2012-13 campaign season.

“We are very happy to have Claudia join us as the 2012-13 Campaign Chair,” said Troy Fears, United Way of the Wabash Valley executive director. “Her experience working with and for economic and educational philanthropic organizations throughout the community will be a great asset to this year’s campaign.”

Tanoos is the vice president of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corp. where she coordinates public and private community resources to generate economic growth in the Greater Terre Haute/Vigo County area which include job retention, expansion, and new job creation.

She is also a member and secretary of the Accelerate West Central Indiana Economic Development Organization, which is a regional development organization covering Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties in Indiana; a member of the Indiana Economic Development Association; creator and initiator of the Power of the Purse Event; vice president and incoming president of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum; and a member of the board of directors of St. George’s Orthodox Church.

She has also established funding sources to support the Vigo County Education Foundation’s mini-grant program.

Tanoos said she “looks forward to continuing the success and momentum of the 2011 Campaign.”

“As we begin the 2012 Campaign, we look forward to reaching out and touching the lives of the United Way families that we serve in the Wabash Valley,” she said. “At the end of our campaign, together, our hope is to look back and see that the United Way has been the catalyst for making a positive difference in those lives.”
