State police arrest Sullivan woman on multiple charges

SULLIVAN — Indiana State Police officers have arrested a Sullivan County woman for felony theft and misdemeanor criminal recklessness involving her ex-husband and son.

The investigations began in June and July and concluded with Tuesday’s arrest.

Angela M. Beatty, 42, of Shelburn, was taken into custody by troopers at her residence Tuesday evening and incarcerated in the Sullivan County Jail. Beatty was charged with two counts of class-D felony theft and one count of Class-A misdemeanor criminal recklessness.

Her bond on the theft charge was $16,000 with 10 percent allowed and her bond on the criminal recklessness charge was $4,000 with 10 percent allowed.

ISP officers began the theft investigation earlier this month and during their investigation found that Beatty allegedly paid her personal cell phone bills through her ex-husband’s bank account, which she was not authorized to access.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office investigated Beatty in June of this year concerning a domestic violence situation involving Beatty and her son. Stemming from that investigation, a warrant was issued for criminal recklessness and troopers arrested Beatty on the misdemeanor warrant simultaneously with the felony warrant for theft.

The ISP case was investigated by ISP detective Tom Hanks and Trooper B.J. Patterson.

The criminal recklessness case was investigated by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and questions concerning this investigation should be directed to that agency.
