According to a media release issued by the Indiana State Police, a homicide investigation has begun in the death of Lowell R. Badger, 85, who was found in his rural Merom home about 9:23 a.m. that morning.

Badger, a retired Sullivan County farmer, was reportedly discovered there by his son, who found him there fully clothed on his bedroom floor, displaying obvious signs of trauma. Electronics and other items appear to have been taken from the residence, the report states.

The ISP requests information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area. According to the report, the time frame in question falls between 8 p.m. Friday and 9:23 a.m. Saturday. Individuals are encouraged to contact the Putnamville Post, 765-653-4114.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
