Holiday Showcase to benefit 14th and Chestnut Community Center

TERRE HAUTE — The ISU Sparkette Dance Team is pairing with A+ All Star Productions/ School of the Dance to ring in the holiday spirit and lend a helping hand to 14th and Chestnut Community Center at 10 a.m. Saturday on the Indiana State University campus.

The performance will take place at ISU’s Center for Health and Human Performance at Fifth and Chestnut streets.

The price of admission is a new, unwrapped toy, canned food item or monetary donation. These donations to 14th and Chestnut Community Center will be distributed to children and families in need in the Vigo County community.

The 14th & Chestnut Community Center’s mission is to partner with and provide ministry to the community in assisting with spiritual, physical and education needs.

Saturday’s benefit performance will feature holiday songs and performers of all ages from across the community.

Special guests include Indiana State University athletes, Sycamore Sam and Santa Claus, who will be available after the performance for pictures and autographs.

Guests this year for the first time are featured performers from the Community Theater Production of “Hairspray” singing seasonal favorites. The group of singers will present another holiday concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at Ryves Hall to benefit Catholic Charities.

The ISU Sparkette Dance Team, is a 50-year tradition at Indiana State University. The team consists of 13 members and is under the direction of Tammy Schaffer. This is the seventh year they have paired with A+ All Star Production/School of the Dance to host a holiday showcase benefitting 14th and Chestnut Community Center.

A+ All Star Production/School of the Dance has a long tradition of offering dancers unique performance opportunities and a nurturing learning environment that stresses life lessons, community service and outreach.
