A logging accident Tuesday in Parke County resulted in the death of one man and injury to another.
According to a media release issued by the Parke County Sheriff’s Department, Terry L. Branham, 59, and Cody Leak, 18, both of Greencastle, were cutting trees in the southeast portion of the county that afternoon. Branham was reportedly cutting a tree, which fell onto another tree, causing it to fall on top of him. That falling tree also struck a third tree, which landed on Leak, the report states.
Branham was pronounced dead at the scene. Leak was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis via helicopter. Hospital personnel reported today that Leak had been treated and released.
