TERRE HAUTE —
Two people were arrested following a hit-and-run accident Saturday afternoon involving a bicyclist.
The 18-year-old bicyclist was taken to Union Hospital for treatment of a shoulder injury. He was later released.
However, Samantha Spurr, 20, and Andrew Hogue, 19, now face criminal charges for their alleged conduct in the incident.
Assistant Chief Shawn Keen of the Terre Haute Police reported that the bicyclist was riding east on the sidewalk when he rode into the side of a southbound car stopped at 22nd and Locust streets. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses were able to get a good description of the car and driver.
The suspect vehicle went to the THPD station, where Spurr reported that she had been driving the auto and that Hogue was the passenger. However, witnesses were called to the police station and identified Hogue as the driver, Keen said.
Spurr was arrested for false informing and was transported to the Vigo County jail. She was released on her own recognizance and her case was assigned to City Court.
Hogue was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and driver never licensed. He was released on his own recognizance and his case was assigned to Division 5 Court.
