Hendricks officer facing charges has no prior conviction

TERRE HAUTE — Christopher Gill, 30, of Terre Haute, does not have a prior conviction in Vigo County for misdemeanor domestic battery. Gill’s criminal history was incorrectly reported in Thursday’s Tribune-Star.

The misdemeanor case filed against Gill in Vigo Superior Court 4 was dismissed by the court on the defendant’s motion, but an appeal was filed by Prosecutor Terry Modesitt with the Indiana Appeals Court. The misdemeanor case has now been transferred to Vigo Superior Court 5, where a trial date of Sept. 18 has been set on a felony charge of domestic battery.

Gill is a police officer for the Danville Police Department in Hendricks County. The domestic battery incident allegedly occurred in April 2010 in Deming Park at the conclusion of a child visitation. A protective order has been issued by the court for Gill’s ex-wife and minor child.
