Weekly and bi-weekly shares in the Community Supported Agriculture program at St. Mary-of-the-Woods are still available for the 2012 garden season through White Violet Center for Eco-Justice.
CSA shareholders will receive enough variety of organically grown seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs each week to feed a small family, or two veggie-loving adults.
Garden plans call for growing traditional favorites such as onions, tomatoes, salad greens, spinach, potatoes, green beans, green onions, eggplant, cabbage, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, sweet peas, beets, mustard greens, asparagus, radishes fresh herbs, carrots, peppers and some surprises.
White Violet Center plans to have up to 50 shares available for the 2012 season. Cost of a full share is $450. Weekly baskets will be available from late May through September. A half-share is offered for $250. Those who sign up for that option will get a basket every two weeks. Also, shareholders who agree to volunteer to work in the garden for a certain number of hours will receive a discount.
The CSA program will have three weekly pick-up sites: one at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, one at 113 S. 19th St. in Terre Haute and at Caboodle Cupcakes at 3419 S. Seventh St. in Terre Haute.
Checks should be made payable to White Violet Center for Eco-Justice and should be mailed to White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, 1 Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876.
