No charges filed against man arrested last week

TERRE HAUTE — No criminal charges have been filed against a Terre Haute man who was arrested last week along with his brother after police found a hidden room where a marijuana growing system was allegedly being operated in their home.

According to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office, no formal charges will be filed against Tyler A. Bauer, 26, related to the arrest. Notice was sent to Vigo Superior Court 1 on Thursday.

However, charges of possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance, both class-D felonies, were filed Friday against Shane C. Bauer, 22.

Both men appeared July 3 in court, where Senior Judge Michael Eldred found probable cause for their arrest on July 2.

Terre Haute Police had been called to their home in the 200 block of Barton Avenue when 911 dispatchers received a phone call from a man saying he was hiding in a bathroom because his brother had a gun and threatened to kill him.

A search of the home revealed a small hidden room accessed through a door in the back of a closet. Inside that room, police reportedly found marijuana plants, grow lights, soil and other items used in the cultivation of marijuana.
