A Terre Haute man faces an allegation of child molestation for an incident that reportedly occurred at a church yard sale.
Gary Krackenberger, 59, appeared via video in Vigo Superior Court 6 on Tuesday, when Judge Michael Lewis set his bail at $35,000 cash.
Detective Todd Kennedy of the Terre Haute Police Department testified that a preteen girl told police she was at a church yard sale when she went inside the building to use the restroom. When she exited the restroom, she said Krackenberger, who was sitting in a chair in the lobby, grabbed her by the arm, pulled her to him and rubbed her breast through her shirt. He then allegedly reached under her shirt and fondled her, Kennedy testified.
Kennedy said he interviewed Krackenberger about the incident, and he admitted to touching the child, saying he thought she was older.
Lewis found probable cause for Krackenberger’s arrest, and set a Monday hearing date for formal charges to be filed.
