Electronics disposal event set Aug. 18

NEWPORT — Vermillion County is teaming up with 5R Processors, Ltd. of Ladysmith, Wis., to help the Wabash Valley properly dispose of household electronics.

5R Processors will be set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Vermillion Rise Mega Park south entrance on Indiana 63 in Hillsdale, where they will be accepting any old or obsolete electronics equipment. The collection is open to the general public including Illinois residents. 5R Processors is R2 and ISO 14001 certified.

5R Processors will be accepting most consumer electronics and home office equipment including: computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves, large household appliances, and more. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers will be accepted for $25 per appliance; intact Cathode-ray tubes and TVs/monitors with broken glass: $10; projection TVs: $45; wood console TVs: $25; large wood speakers: $10 per pair. Department of Defense approved hard drive cleansing services will be available for just $10. Secure hard drive cleansing is performed at the main 5R Processors facility and drives will not be returned.
