‘Keep Terre Haute Beautiful’

Twice-yearly citywide cleanup set for Saturday

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute’s biannual citywide cleanup is Saturday. Keep Terre Haute Beautiful, in conjunction with the City of Terre Haute and Republic Services, organizes citywide cleanups on the first Saturdays in May and October each year.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the old bank building at the corner of Lafayette and Maple avenues at 8 a.m. Saturday. They will be given a route map, gloves, bags, a free T-shirt and snacks.

The cleanup will run from 8 a.m. to noon and include several targeted areas in the city. Businesses, churches, schools and other organizations are encouraged to bring a group of people to help.

Several open-top trash receptacles will be placed in targeted areas throughout the city. Hazardous waste — including but not limited to refrigeration units, chemicals, tires and batteries — will not be taken.

For more information or to volunteer to help with the cleanup, contact the mayor’s office at (812) 232-9467 or send an email to kthb@treesinc.org.
