TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute man linked to multiple armed robberies in the Wabash Valley has been sentenced to 24 years in prison.
James H. Johnson, 24, has pleaded guilty to class-B felony armed robbery and to being a habitual offender. The plea agreement dropped additional criminal charges of criminal confinement, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of stolen property. His guilty plea resulted in his fourth conviction for armed robbery.
Johnson was arrested in January 2010 as the result of a Terre Haute Police Department investigation that included a December 2009 armed robbery at AA Federal Credit Union on North 13th Street. Johnson was also linked to armed robberies of a Lafayette Avenue check cashing business and of First Bank of Martinsville in Illinois.
