Drowning cited in death of Shelburn man

SULLIVAN — A Sullivan County man killed early Sunday drowned after his truck crashed into a private pond, autopsy results show.

A pathologist report indicates Richard A. Enstrom Jr., 43, of Shelburn, accidentally drown after his 1933 Ford truck entered a pond at the intersection of Sullivan County roads 75 North and 150 East about 1:26 a.m. Sunday. Enstrom also tested above the legal limit for intoxication, the autopsy results show.

Sullivan County Coroner Jeff Griffith released the autopsy results; however, the autopsy was performed by Dr. Roland Kohr, pathologist and Vigo County Coroner.

Investigators believe Enstrom was headed east on Sullivan County Road 75 North and failed to stop at 150 East. The truck continued east, striking a traffic control sign and then traveled down an embankment, eventually overturning in the water. Seat restraints were reportedly not in use, but not required for that model of vehicle, a red 1933 Ford, according to an Indiana State Police news release issued Sunday.
