TERRE HAUTE — Soprano Anne Foradori will be in residency at Indiana State University on Friday and Saturday in conjunction with the Ethel Closson Smith Vocal Artist/Teacher Lectureship.
While in residence at ISU, Foradori will present a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and a masterclass from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, featuring ISU voice students. Both events will be in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing Arts and are free and open to the public.
Foradori was an adjunct member of the Indiana State music faculty from 1993-1994, before joining the faculty at the University of Nebraska — Kearney, where teaches voice and coordinates opera workshop/musical theatre. She has been recognized there as a master teacher in voice and musical theater, most recently as a recipient of the Pratt-Heins Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Her students have been finalists and winners in numerous regional and national competitions sponsored by the Metropolitan Opera Guild Auditions, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Music Teachers National Association. Her students have also appeared in regional musical theater productions, as well as on stages in New York and Chicago.
Foradori is an active soloist in recital, concert, and opera throughout the Midwest and has presented at numerous professional meetings, including the National NATS Convention in 2008. She completed the DMA in Vocal Performance at The Ohio State University.
The Lectureship, founded in 1986 by emerita professor of voice Ethel Closson Smith, brings an outstanding voice performer/teacher to the campus for a two- or three-day residency. Smith was a member of the Indiana State voice faculty from 1962-1987.
