Boot City Opry prepares to open its 2012 season on April 14

TERRE HAUTE — The Boot City Opry will open its sixth season with the first of 33 Saturday evening live music shows on April 14.

Again this year, the Opry staff has made a concentrated effort to bring together a list of exciting shows. Returning with crowd pleasing acts will be Lloyd Wood, Rocking Terry Lee, and The Neverly Brothers.

Jason Petty, the man that played Hank Williams at the Ryman Auditorium, will present a total of three different shows throughout the year. Young entertainer Robert Shaw, who performed in the Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theater, will perform his Heartbreak Hotel show.

Additionally, nationally touring acts The Van-Dells and The Marlin’s will do repeat engagements. Top Branson showman Doug Gabriel and his family will return with their popular show.

Shows new to the Opry this year include Scott Haggard (Merle Haggard’s son), The Ragtops, TJ Thomas and Kentucky Strait, Manhattan Dolls, Terry Lynn Barton and RFD-TV’s Maggie Mae.
