Maybe superheroes and heroines are of great interest to your child, and he or she would enjoy learning about their own super powers. If so, be sure to check out the final week of Summer Camp at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum at 727 Wabash Ave.
During Heroes and Heroines Camp, scheduled July 31 through Aug. 3, campers will learn about the super powers of their own bodies, and super powers of some of the animals that are often associated with superheroes, such as bats, spiders, wolverines and turtles! But, every super hero has a super villain. Campers will participate in villainous experiments with dry ice, and they will even get a chance to make their own pirate ship.
The museums summer camps, which are packed with themed activities, experiments and lessons from all areas of science, are designed to inspire children and awaken their curiosity in the exploration and interaction with science, technology, engineering, math and health. And, thanks to the generous support from the THCM Summer Camp sponsor, Duke Energy, a limited number of summer camp scholarships are available, based on financial need. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Heroes and Heroines Camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday. Cost is $90 for members of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and $100 for non-members. Discounts are given for good grades. Applications are also being accepted for summer camp scholarships that support free and reduced registration rates. Support from Duke Energy, along with individual contributions, funds the scholarship program.

Will Cook for Tips: 100 Men Who Cook helping Children’s Museum through online fundraising
On March 23, 100 local male celebrities will prepare and share their favorite recipes during the “100 Men Who Cook” event, and they will be competing for tips to benefit the Terre Haute Children’s Museum at 727 Wabash Ave. But, this year, even those who are unable to attend the event can show their support for their favorite chefs and the museum by putting tips in an online tip jar.

Clabber Girl to host woodworking demonstration
Artist Debbie Anderson will provide a woodworking demonstration to an adult art education class on Feb. 26 in the Clabber Girl Museum in Terre Haute. Anderson has had her intarsia woodwork on display throughout February at The Gallery in the museum at Ninth Street and Wabash Avenue.
