TERRE HAUTE —
The Terre Haute Children’s Museum has been busy adding new exhibits to sections of its third floor, and those changes will be unveiled on Saturday. As the museum puts the finishing touches on these exhibit areas, the third floor will be closed through Friday. Museum admission will be discounted to $5 for adults and children age 2 and over. Children under the age of 2 and museum members are admitted to the museum for free.
When the third floor reopens on Saturday, guests will find a bigger WTHCM television studio, an expanded construction area, the re-themed Flight Deck and an all-new Critter Corner, featuring live animals.
At the WTHCM Studio, guests will be on TV as either a meteorologist or a news anchor, all while learning about a working television studio and the weather around us. The new construction area will give guests a “behind the walls” look at how a house works and give kids a chance to build some things themselves. The re-themed Flight Deck will bridge-the-gap between flying animals and flying machines. And at Critter Corner, children will have the opportunity to get up-close to a snake, frogs, a lizard, a salamander, a tarantula and even hissing cockroaches.
In addition to the new exhibit areas, there is also exciting mural project that is in progress on the third floor. David Erickson, a retired faculty member from Indiana State University’s art department, is the artist and supervisor for the 8-foot, 4-inch by 40-foot, 6-inch creation titled “Flightful Fantasy: We can fly, we can fly.” The mural is made possible by a partnership between The Gilbert Wilson Memorial Mural Project, Indiana State University’s Energize Downtown initiative and the museum.
The museum will also unveil a third book nook. To help encourage children to pick up a book and make reading more enjoyable, the Children’s Museum partnered with Altrusa International of Terre Haute to add reading nooks throughout the museum. The nooks include bookshelves, seating and books to read, and have design elements that tie in to the museum’s exhibit areas. Two of the nooks have already been installed, and the third book nook will be installed near the Museum’s renovated construction area.

Will Cook for Tips: 100 Men Who Cook helping Children’s Museum through online fundraising
On March 23, 100 local male celebrities will prepare and share their favorite recipes during the “100 Men Who Cook” event, and they will be competing for tips to benefit the Terre Haute Children’s Museum at 727 Wabash Ave. But, this year, even those who are unable to attend the event can show their support for their favorite chefs and the museum by putting tips in an online tip jar.
