Senior Education Ministries, Inc. has scheduled Lunch with a Lawyer from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the Wabash Senior Activity Center, at 300 S. Fifth St.
Lunch with a Lawyer is a free educational program that welcomes the local senior public to hear the lawyer of the month present an educational topic while attendees enjoy a complimentary meal. You do not need to be a member of the Senior Center to come and participate. Just bring a questioning mind, an appetite and perhaps a friend.
People do not need to be a member of the Senior Center to come and participate.
The Lunch with a Lawyer program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living, and educate them (from a preventive standpoint) with the goal of ensuring their quality of life and providing them with the resources and protective information to make an informed decision.
Brittany Bennett J.D., will be this month’s guest.
Bennett joined First Financial Bank as staff attorney in 2008. She provides legal counsel to bank management in the areas of institutional policy, regulatory compliance and contracts.
Bennett received her juris doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law, in Bloomington, where she was affiliated with the Business Law Society and the Women’s Law Caucus.
She has been admitted to practice law in the Indiana Supreme Court and in the Northern and Southern District Courts of Indiana, and is a member of the Terre Haute and American bar associations.
Bennett graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School and received her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College with a double major in marketing and human resource management. She has participated in the March of Dimes and the Komen Race for the Cure and serves as a mentor through the career center at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
Join her for her presentation “Tips to Help Avoid Financial Worry.”
Bennett will be joined by Trust Investment Officer Jo Ellen McBeth. McBeth joined First Financial Bank as a trust investment officer in Trust Services during 2009. She has more than 33 years of experience in the investment and financial services industry, most recently in the Indianapolis area. She is past president of the Indianapolis Bond Club and the Indianapolis Security Traders Association. Lunch will be complimentary and provided courtesy of Cloverleaf Healthcare.
Each Lunch with a Lawyer program will have a “Mission Moment” speaker (community service agency). This speaker serves as a “Public defender/Community defender” agency and will provide information to the people about what they do and how they are there to serve them in their community.
This month’s Mission Moment will feature Families By Choice, an agency that offers shelter and support for the homeless.
Space is limited and reservations are required. RSVP by calling (812) 232-7575.
