The Estate Planning Council of Central Illiana has recently elected officers and board of directors for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
The officers are; president, Cary Sparks, CTFA, senior vice president and trust officer (First Financial Bank Trust Services); vice president, David Dittmann, financial advisor (Edward Jones); secretary, T.C. Clary, attorney (Wright, Shagley & Lowery); and treasurer, Julie Schlosser, trust officer (Old National Bank). The board of directors are: Patrick Bell, CPA (Larsson, Woodyard & Henson); Jeff Fisher, CPA (Sackrider & Company, Inc.); Lakshmi Reddy, attorney (Reddy Law Firm LLC); Bob McMahan, attorney (McMahan Law Firm); and Terri Svihla, CPA (Svihla & Associates, CPAs, LLC).
The Estate Planning Council of Central Illiana, Inc., was formed on April 2, 1996, to provide a better understanding of estate planning and the services estate planners can render to the general public. Members of the council strive to promote cooperation among the various disciplines (attorney, CFP, CPA, CLU, ChFC, CEP, trust officer, and any professional engaged in estate planning). The intent is to foster a better understanding of the proper relationship that each discipline bears to the other, their clients, and the general public.
The local council conducts five professional meetings throughout the year covering timely estate planning-related topics. The dates and general topics for this year’s programs are as follows:
September — Economic Update
November — Investment Roundtable
January — Charitable Giving
March — Professional Development
May — Continuing Education Program
The local council is a member of the National Association of Estate Planners and Council.
Membership in the Estate Planning Council is open to any professional who is engaged in or interested in the estate planning process. As an incentive for new members to join the organization, a special “new member discount” for the first year dues was recently approved by the organization’s board.
