The St. Mary-of-the-Woods women’s soccer team defeated Anderson 3-0 Wednesday.
The Woods senior Erin Pugh opened the scoring with a goal, and the Terre Haute North graduate assisted Bloomington native Samantha Morrison for a second first-half goal.
The Pomeroys got their final goal in the second half when Jessica Black found the net in the 70th minute on a free kick.

In other college soccer:
• DePauw tops Rose — Rose-Hulman opened the women’s soccer season with a 4-0 loss to regional power DePauw University on Wednesday night at the Intramural Field.
DePauw outshot the Engineers 17-5 in the contest, with junior Julie Brennan leading the Rose-Hulman defensive effort with seven saves.
Offensively, senior Molly Richardson paced the Engineers with two shots.
Sophia Da Silveira led the DePauw offense with two goals midway through the first half. Alexandra Ehr and Lauren Leipparndt also scored for the Tigers.
Rose-Hulman returns to action with two neutral site games in Michigan this weekend. The Engineers battle Albion College at Kalamazoo on Saturday, then square off with Kalamazoo at Albion College on Sunday.
Volleyball
• Rose-Hulman tops Brescia — The Rose-Hulman volleyball team relied on a balanced attack to defeat Brescia University 25-14, 25-10, 25-10 in the season opener for both schools at Hulbert Arena on Wednesday.
Junior Karah Hickman led the Rose-Hulman offensive effort with eight kills and five blocks, including two solo efforts.
Juniors Leah Pelzel and Morgan Williams joined sophomore Anna Lewer by contributing six kills each.
Freshman Kira Boswell paced the passing effort with 17 assists with Pelzel contributing eight.
Lewer tallied two service aces and led the defensive performance with eight digs.
Other key contributions included Williams with two solo blocks, Pelzel with six digs and two block assists, and freshman Kate Dangel with seven digs.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Eureka College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
• Middle school — The following middle school match was reported from Wednesday night:
Varsity — Woodrow Wilson defeated Honey Creek 12-25, 25-21, 15-9.
For Honey Creek, Cassidy Wood had 7 kills, Riley Davis 8 assists and 3 kills.
