TERRE HAUTE —
A pair of former Indiana State players were promoted, while another pair of former ISU pitchers came off rehabilitation assignments to join their regular teams this week.
Catcher Nevin Ashley was promoted to the Durham Bulls (AAA) from Montgomery (AA) by the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Since joining Durham, Ashley is 1 for 10 in three games, with a home run and two RBIs. Ashley’s homer came in his Durham debut at Charlotte on Aug. 29.
Outfielder Nick Ciolli was promoted to Winston-Salem (A-advanced) from Kannapolis (A) in the Chicago White Sox organization. Ciolli hit the ground running, going 11 for 23 with four doubles, a home run and five RBIs in his first five games with the Dash.
Pitchers Alex Graman and Brian Omogrosso both completed rehab assignments, both recovering from injuries suffered in the 2009 season. Graman returned to the Seibu Lions in the Japanese League, while Omogrosso joined the Birmingham Barons (AA).

Colorado Rockies infielder Clint Barmes returned from the bereavement list this week, which allowed him to spend time with his gravely ill father in Indiana.
Barmes, a former ISU infielder, has had a up-and-down season, beginning the year as the Rockies’ starting second baseman. Barmes, who is hitting just .235 in 115 games this season, was recently supplanted by rookie Eric Young Jr.
Colorado manager Jim Tracy had a closed-door meeting with Barmes recently, explaining that Young would be receiving the bulk of playing time at second base for the rest of the season.
