Metro Roundup: ISU men’s basketball set to play two more NIT games at WKU

Indiana State will play its consolation round games of the 2009 Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tipoff at E.A. Diddle Arena on the campus of Western Kentucky on Monday and Tuesday.

ISU will face Coastal Carolina of the Big South Conference at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. CC (2-1 overall) lost to Duke 74-49, then topped Elon 69-46 in NIT action earlier this week.

The Sycamores will play host Western Kentucky at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams were in the NIT opening round at LSU earlier this week. WKU defeated Wisconsin-Milwaukee 69-65 before falling to LSU 71-60.

Both ISU games will be broadcast on WSDM-FM 92.7.

Prior to next week’s NIT games, ISU will host Colorado State in the inaugural Mountain West/Missouri Valley Conference Challenge. Gametime is 7:05 p.m. in Hulman Center.

• Schedule changes — The following schedule changes were reported to the Tribune-Star on Wednesday:

• Due to Marshall playing in the IHSA football playoffs, the opening round schedule of games in the Robinson Girl’s Thanksgiving Tourney on Nov. 21 have been changed.

The schedule is Marshall vs. Charleston (9 a.m. CT), Casey vs. Mount Carmel (10:30 a.m.) and Robinson vs. Lawrenceville (noon).

• The Eminence at Union girls game today will be varsity only, starting at 6 p.m.

• The Fountain Central at Riverton Parke boys game scheduled for Nov. 25 has been postponed to Dec. 12 due to FC’s football team participating in the IHSAA Class A playoffs.

• Middle school — The following middle school results were reported to the Tribune-Star on Wednesday:



Boys

Eighth grade — Honey Creek 39 (Jerad Fuson 20), South Vermillion 37 (Hines 19, Weyrauch 11); St. Patrick’s 45 (Adam LaGrange 14, Ryan Moshak 13), North Central 13 (Logan Berg 7).

Seventh grade — Honey Creek 53, South Vermillion 34; North Central 36 (Andrew Nikirk 16), St. Patrick’s 34 (Andrew Major 16).

Sixth grade — Honey Creek “A” 47 (Flack 10), West Vigo 21 “A” (Bailey Sherill 7); Honey Creek “B” (Serrato 9), West Vigo “B” 8 (Keith 4).

Volleyball

• Coutinho selected — Terre Haute South senior Larina Coutinho has been selected as an Indiana All-Star for the 2009 season. Coutino will play for the South All-Stars against the North All-Stars at Perry Meridian at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Former South players Katelyn Bishop (2003), Lauren Ditteon (2003) and Kristen Seaton (2006) previously received this honor.
