Otter Creek shines at middle school XC championships

Otter Creek won three of the four races Wednesday in the Vigo County Middle School cross country meet at LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

Honey Creek won the boys varsity race as the Bees had five of the top seven runners, including race winner Jack Harbaugh who edged Peter Davis of Woodrow Wilson by one-tenth of a second. Harbaugh ran a 3,000-meter time of 10:45.1.

Honey Creek had 22 points, and Woodrow Wilson was second with 44.

Otter Creek’s girls had closer competition from second-place Honey Creek in the girls varsity action.

Otters’ runner Jessi Conley was first in a time of 11:16.2, and Nikki Thiede of Honey Creek took second in 11:32.3.
