PREP ROUNDUP: Cook gets Patriots’ lone singles win

VINCENNES — Morgan Cook of the Terre Haute North improved to 8-1 on the season at No. 3 singles but was the only winner for the Patriots in a 4-1 girls high school tennis loss Monday to second-ranked Evansville Memorial.

The two teams played at Vincennes Lincoln.

Singles — Macie Elliott (EM) def. Anna Potter 6-1, 6-1; Bridget Swartwood (EM) def. Laura Mascari 6-3, 6-0; Morgan Cook (THN) def. Elizabeth Schuler 6-2, 7-5.

Doubles — Rachel Swartwood-Liz Wilm (EM) def. Olivia Caldwell-Caroline Potter 6-1, 6-0; Audrey Vincent-Brenna Wu (EM) def. Lynsey Stoick-Carmen Nichols 6-0, 6-1.

JV — Evansville Memorial 3, Terre Haute North 1.

Next — North (6-3) plays Delta today at Ben Davis.

• Bloomington North 4, Terre Haute South 1 — At South, the host Braves could only win one of three three-set singles matches in falling to the Cougars.

Maddie Kesler had the Braves’ point at No. 1 singles.

North overcome Rockville’s six-run first inning by scoring nine in the bottom of the inning.
