Metro roundup: ISU Hall of Fame induction tickets available

TERRE HAUTE — Tickets are still available for the induction ceremonies for the 18th class of the Indiana State Athletics Hall of Fame at the Ohio Building on Feb. 13.

Festivities honoring former track and cross country coach Bill Malloy, basketball player Bob Barker, runner Angie (Bruecker) Martin, softball player Debbie Styx and football player David Wright begin with a 10:30 a.m. reception. Brunch is 11 a.m., with the program at approximately 11:45.

Cost is $25 for the induction ceremony; tickets for the 2 p.m. Indiana State men’s basketball game with Drake are available for $6. The inductees will also be introduced at the game.

• Sycamores sign 13 — Terre Haute South’s Kayla Liffick is one of 13 players in the first recruiting class of Indiana State coach Erika True.

“I am very excited to have this first recruiting class of ours come in this fall. For some of these players it has been almost a year since they made their verbal commitment to our program and this signing date finally seals the deal for them to officially become Sycamores,” said True. “We are looking forward to this class coming in and being a strong contributing factor to the success that we are looking to strive for this fall. Congratulations to all of our 2010 commitments.”

New Sycamores are Ali Ardaiolo, defender from Carmel; Stacy Clough, defender from Northville, Mich.; Haley Gaither, defender and midfielder from Washington, Ind.; Kylie Greischar, defender and midfielder from Overland Park, Kan.; Alyssa Grell, forward from Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Megan Hardesty, midfielder and forward from Edgewood High School; Autumn Jacobs, defender and midfielder from Milan, Mich.; Liffick; Libby Prickel, midfielder and forward from Cincinnati; Taylor Reed, defender from Rockford, Ill.; Brianna Supulski, goalkeeper from Carrollton, Texas; Shelby Troyer, defender and midfielder from Elida, Ohio; and Rebekka Wittkamp, midfielder from Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Running

• Dever wins, Rightley fourth — Tom Dever of Terre Haute won the Key West 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, finishing in a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes and 6 seconds.

Vaughn Rightley of Terre Haute placed fourth in 1:21:13.

Other Wabash Valley runners among the 649 competitors were John Cahill, 120th in 1:52:40; Floyd Bosworth, 137th in 1:54:41; Kathy Morris, 276th in 2:07:34; Marolyn Cook, 277th in 2:07:35; Ann Caldwell, 351st in 2:13:03; Myra Bosworth, 360th in 2:13:41; Dana Jeffers, 403rd in 2:17:21; Michel Starkey, 504th in 2:29:27; Erin Watts, 505th in 2:29:39; and Cheryl Hart, 550th in 2:36:59.

All are from Terre Haute except Cahill of Lewis, Cook of West Terre Haute and Watts of Clinton.
