PREP ROUNDUP: North, South girls golf teams record victories

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South recorded victories in girls golf on Monday.

At Hulman Links, the Patriots hiked their nine-hole match record to 4-0, defeating Greencastle 168-200.

Rachel Welker shot 37 for medalist honors. Jesi Kaperak-Easton had 42, Nicole Anderson 44 and Courtney Huffenberger and Rachel Helt each shot 45 for the winners.

Chelsea Samuels had 44 for Greencastle, now 9-4 for the season. Katie Hedge was second low with 51.

At Rea Park, South trailed after the first two scores were posted for each team but finished strong for a 188-193 victory over Edgewood.

Sam Faletic was medalist with 45 for the Mustangs. Caylee Walburn of South and Carlie Greven of Edgewood each shot 46.

Morgan Patterson and Katie Thomas both had 47 for the Braves and Alex Pickens shot 48 to round out the scoring for the 4-1 South team.

South and North will compete in the county match on Thursday at River Bend at The Landing with West Vigo being the host team. Play should begin at 5 p.m.
