Metro Roundup: Usually reliable Rex bullpen fails in final two innings

Lorain, Ohio — The usually reliable Terre Haute Rex bullpen failed in the final two innings Saturday night, allowing six runs in the final two innings as host Lorain County came from behind for an 8-3 Prospect League baseball win.

The Rex took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh when Derek Hannahs walked and came around on a double by Lucas Hileman and an error.

But the Ironmen took the lead in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly and Jeff Cola’s two-out double, then added three more two-out runs in the eighth.

Nick Johnson had a pair of run-scoring doubles to lead the Rex, driving in Koby Kraemer after an error in the fourth inning and following up a single by Joe Meggs with another RBI in the sixth.

The loss spoiled a quality start for Chris Nunn of the Rex, who allowed just one earned run in six innings.
